November is Diabetes Awareness Month
A vital conversation on living with diabetes
Body:
Diabetes continues to emerge as one of South Africa’s fastest-growing health challenges. But knowledge, awareness and community support can transform lives. In recognition of this, November marks Diabetes Awareness Month — a time to engage, learn and act.
On Tuesday, 4 November 2025 at 09:40, join the “Health Talk” segment on RISE fm Affair with host Tlotlang Moletsane when she meets Amanda Mashego, a dedicated diabetes advocate and board member of the Diabetes Alliance. Amanda brings real-life experience of managing diabetes in South Africa: from navigating treatment, managing stigma, and advocating for accessible care, to using her social-media platforms to empower others.
During their conversation, they will explore:
- What it means to live with diabetes in South Africa today.
- How prevention, early detection and informed self-care make a difference.
- The role of community-based advocacy and the power of peer support.
- Practical steps you or someone you know can take toward managing diabetes effectively.
If you or someone you care for is affected by diabetes, this is a timely opportunity to engage, ask questions and gain insight from both lived experience and advocacy. Tune in at 09:40 on Tuesday, 4 November 2025.
Let’s turn awareness into action. Stay informed. Stay connected.
