Draft Liquor Bill could lead to countless jobs being compromised‚ warns DA
The government has failed to take into account the knock-on effects of blanket prohibitive clauses of the Draft Liquor Bill to a point where countless jobs will be compromised and the intended social ills of alcohol abuse remain neglected‚ the Democratic Alliance says.
The party said on Sunday it would not allow government’s lack of rigour when proposing draft legislation to negatively affect the livelihoods of South Africans.
“We will continue to fight for a fair and constructive policy that provides more job opportunities and addresses social ills effectively.”
The DA will brief the media in Johannesburg on Monday on what it views as the problematic aspects of the Draft Liquor Bill‚ as well as the party’s proposed amendments.
