SACP makes claims of an imminent Gupta- inspired cabinet reshuffle
The South African Communist Party says there could be a “Gupta-inspired” cabinet reshuffle soon.
The party says Minister of Trade and Industry, Rob Davies, could be replaced with a recently-sworn-in ANC-MP.
The most recent MP to be sworn in, is S’fiso Buthelezi who was sworn in after the resignation of Joyce Moloi-Moropa, an SACP treasurer. The SACP alleges that the reshuffle is connected to the Gupta family’s interest in acquiring a stake in steel’s company ArcelorMittal and their concern is that the Trade and Industry ministry is setting tough pricing conditions on the sale of steel.
Earlier this week deputy Finance Minister Mcebisi Jonas revealed that he was offered the job of Finance Minister by the family to replace Nhlanhla Nene. The SACP has since called for a commission of inquiry into the alleged influence that the family has on the state.
