Mantashe says those who expose corruption can not be immune from reshuffles

The ANC’s Secretary General Gwede Mantashe says those who come forward and expose undue influence by outsiders on government, can not be immune from reshuffles. Speaking at the ANC’s NEC media briefing last night, Mantashe explained that the individuals would be given political protection but that such wouldn’t mean that they would be guaranteed positions for exposing corruption. He assured that the ANC would not discipline those who did the honourable thing. He however added that the appointment of ministers and deputy ministers remained the sole prerogative of the president, in line with the Constitution.

The ANC has been marred by allegations of  president Jacob Zuma having allowed the Gupta family to decide on cabinet appointments to advance their business interests. The NEC has resolved that the party’s national working committee will gather all pertinent information about the Gupta allegations to enable the ANC to take appropriate action on the matter.
